Two officials suspended in land grab case
KOCHI: The land revenue commissioner has issued orders suspending Kanayannoor deputy tahsildar K Krishnakumari and Thrikkakara north village officer P S Sabu in connection with the alleged land grabbing by Salim Raj’s relatives in Kochi.
According to the order, the officials acted against law while cancelling the thandaper (rent roll) register of A K Nasser of Pathadipalam in Kochi.
There was a dispute between the families of Nasser and Salim Raj’s relative K H Abdul Majeed over the land in Thrikkakara north village, which was in Nasser’s possession. Majeed had demanded cancellation of thandaper of the land. Following his complaint, the government sought a report from Kanayannoor tahsildar.
The tahsildar submitted the report stating that no action could be taken in the case as civil suits were are pending. The government then closed the file. Later, the land revenue commissionerate sought more details. Based on the details gathered, the revenue commissioner in 2012 issued an order to additional tahsildar to cancel the thandaper of the land citing that the land owners didn’t possess a ‘patta’.
